Temescal Brewing South Bay First Taste

Tuesday, May 17 2016 at 6:00pm

We could not be more excited to host the South Bay First Taste for Temescal Brewing!!! Based in the historic Temescal neighborhood in Oakland, this is not just another mere new brewery on the scene. Featuring Head Brewer Wade Benker-Ritchey (who got his brewing chops at Triple Rock, Hill Farmstead & Cellarmaker just to name a few) they are sure to bring the goods with these inagural offerings and beyond. Come hang and get to know your new favorite beer people and taste through some fantastic suds while you do, hope to see you there! - Pouring - Hello Pale Ale | Pale Ale | 5.4% Motueka, Chinook, Cascade Hello! This is our inaugural brew and it’s all about the happy fusion you get when you mix a whole fruit-basket’s worth of hop aromas with a rich malt character. Aromas of papaya, tangerine, and Everlasting Gobstoppers™ from a healthy dose of Motueka, Chinook, and Cascade hit you first, then in comes a pleasant backdrop of graham cracker and gooey caramel. A medium body and healthy hop bitterness gives this pale some heft, but it's still juicy and approachable. Lean in close, and you might just hear the soft whisper of a new friend saying, "Hello." Birthday Party Pale | Pale Ale | 5.0% Amarillo, Equinox On May 4th--the day our beer starts flowing--Oakland will be turning 164! As a super special birthday treat, we've brewed the town a pale ale with some of our most favoritest hops in the whole hop kingdom: Amarillo and Equinox. We've used the bare essentials to create a light body and unobtrusive malt character, setting the stage for an explosion of grapefruit, clementine, peach, and white pine. Don't Mind If I Do | IPA | 6.7% Simcoe, Motueka, Chinook The beer of the day is IPA, and this is our hot take: an homage to the beers we've come to admire, with some added perpective straight out of Temescal. Brewed with mostly Simcoe hops, we added some Chinook to reinforce characteristics of pine and cracked black pepper and some Motueka for added lemon peel and ripe melon deliciousness. Full bodied but dry, the beer has just a whisper of graham cracker maltiness that helps the hops drive this ship to flavor town. My glass is empty, yours looks like it too, let's have another, don't mind if I do!
